This morning, while gearing up to share my latest WordPress blog post on LinkedIn, I faced an unexpected obstacle. Instead of the well-crafted post I’d meticulously prepared, LinkedIn only displayed a link with the uninspiring label “Web Link.” A screenshot accompanies this article as a testament to this setback, a blow felt by many bloggers utilizing WordPress as their platform of choice.

For bloggers like myself, who rely on LinkedIn to amplify our content, this sudden change felt like a stumbling block. The platform’s inability to showcase the essence of our posts—be it the compelling title, intriguing snippets, or engaging images—seemed like a disheartening turn.
However, in the midst of this frustration, I stumbled upon a workaround, a simple yet effective solution to ensure our content maintains its appeal despite LinkedIn’s limitations.
The workaround I discovered involves a slight alteration in the sharing process:
- Craft Your Post: Begin by composing your thoughts, reflections, or a captivating teaser about your blog post directly in the LinkedIn sharing box. Share your insights, key points, or an attention-grabbing hook that entices your audience to delve into your content.
- Include Your Featured Image: Upload your featured image separately. Ensure that this image embodies the essence of your blog post and prominently displays the title or an engaging snippet from the article.make sure the title is included in the uploaded image. This way, even if the LinkedIn post only displays “Web Link,” the image will act as a visual representation of your content, showcasing the title and enticing viewers to click through.
- Incorporate Your Link: Within your written text, add the link to your WordPress blog post. This ensures that even if the LinkedIn post only shows a snippet or limited text, the link will guide interested readers directly to your full article.
While this workaround might seem like a small adjustment, it serves as a practical solution to mitigate the impact of LinkedIn’s recent changes. By following these steps, bloggers can continue to maintain the visibility and attract readers to their WordPress blog posts on the platform.
